Hi, I’m Bella

My creativity knows no bounds, and I specialize in delivering visually stunning and meaningful designs inspired by nature that leave a lasting impact.

A bit of my story…

I grew up in Bolivia, a country that taught me the value of culture through its ethnic and natural diversity, where indigenous people make up around two-thirds of the population, along with their traditions and numerous festivities. From colorful aguayo textiles to the flavors of varied cuisine, Bolivia offers breathtaking sites from the Andes Mountains to the Amazon Basin rainforest. I fell in love with diversity from a young age. Later on, the opportunity to travel to different countries allowed me to carry a wider perspective of the world and nurture my fondness for appreciating different expressions.

As I learned to appreciate cultures, traditions, and values in different places, I also learned that art has no barriers. Everywhere I went, it could be expressed in so many ways, forms, and languages and still have the power to communicate an idea or a message or, in some cases, even change someone’s perspective. I had learned with time to appreciate the way art can express something so freely. That's when I knew that if I pursued something in my life, it had to be related to the arts.

My mom first introduced me to the arts. I was mesmerized by how she managed to organize exhibitions, make posters, and always communicate the right ideas with passion and creativity. It began at preschool when I realized that Art (with a capital A) was something else for me. Every year, the school required us to buy school supplies. I realized then that toys and playthings didn’t excite me. What really made me happy was having to buy my own markers, color pencils, watercolor sets, and other art supplies so I could experiment with them later.

Further on in high school, I had the chance to choose Visual Arts as my major for the International Baccalaureate program. I knew that it would help shape my work and lead me into the art world. That’s when I immersed myself in the works of different artists such as Marina Abramovich, Isamu Noguchi, and other great artists who inspired me. During that time, I also learned how to compare art pieces from different contexts using various elements so afterward I could use them to create my own. I practiced on different media such as oil, acrylics, watercolors, and then, I combined them in my work.

Shortly after, I enrolled into Communication Design at FIT because I knew it would give me the opportunity to learn and more fully develop my work in this multifaceted city with a global reputation, and it did. It also allowed me to gain a broad overview of all cultural aspects of media and communication, giving me the freedom, further on, to choose my area of specialization. The 200 languages spoken and different nationalities represented in the city will provide me unprecedented diversity of people and ideas that I’ll use to create new concepts for people.

Today, my appreciation grows for what I find diverse, engaging, and inspiring around me. I realize that it is hard to look anywhere without spotting the creative brilliance of a designer or an artist. Even in this moment, as I’m writing in a coffee shop, I look around to notice I’m surrounded by art. The menu, the posters on the walls, the furniture, even the ceiling. I’m lucky I’m able to see it everywhere I go. It is pervasive, as it shapes our mood, outlook, and thoughts in a moment's glance.

As Elsie de Wolfe said, “I am going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life.”

I can’t wait to design something with you…
